ICT CHALLENGE: Analyzing a CLILC Project.
Hello everybody! Finaly FriYAY!!
I have done a very interesting ICT challenge. Have a
look!
The project I have chosen is “English speaking
cities”, and the city I have chosen in London. This project is focus for the 3
grade of secondary education and it’s been created by the CEDEC (Centro
Nacional de Desarollo Curricular en sistemas no propietarios).
The different places the project talks about are:
- Tower Bridge
- The Tower of London
- Big Ben
- Camden Town
- London Eye
- London Underground
- Piccadilly Circus
- The British Museum
- National Gallery
For making my analysis, first I’ve done a draft to
know what I had to do and what I had to take into account.
Second, I chose the project I liked most, in this case
London.
After choosing the project, I used the check list to
look for the information needed.
Here is my analysis:
I KEY KNOWLEDGE, UNDERSTANDING AND SUCCESS
SKILLS:
I find this point quite complete. This project is
focus on teaching English and showing the most important places in London. At
least the most touristic ones: Museums, restaurants, monuments, charming
places... And also tries to teach the students how to manage themselves in this
city if they go to visit it.
II CHALLENGING PROBLEM OR QUESTION:
The level of the project is adequate for the grade of
the students. There are many questions they can make to interact in class.
It’s an interesting topic and people of that age
because probably they are looking forward to go to London.
III SUSTAINED INQUIRY:
As I said above, in this topic we can find many
questions to make. Also in some of them, the students can develop their own
answers by looking at what comes next.
IV AUTHENTICITY:
This project has totally real-world context. The
things that it teaches can be used in the student’s real life and experiences
if they travel to London.
I have been to London recently and I have visited most
of the places that are explained and they are very well described.
V STUDENT VOICE AND CHOICE
This project has active participation for the
students. Although the teacher is the one who explains the work, later the
pupils have to work by themselves and take their own choices.
VI REFLECTION
Making a learning diary or blog, writing an article or
designing a website are quite good ways for the students to show what they have
learn.
VII CRITIQUE AND REVISION
As I said before, by the work the students do by
making a learning diary or blog, writing an article or designing a website, the
teacher can give the students feedback of their work. And also the teacher can
see if the students have understood the lesson well.
VIII PUBLIC PRODUCT
They do use public products in this project.
CONCLUSION
I think this project helps the students to work
actively, and that is very important. I’ve enjoyed it a lot and I think I will
use similar ones in my future class. Of
course I will make them simpler, because my students will be very little.
